About School 10

School 10, a historic building in the heart of Dunkirk since 1879, has undergone various transformations over the years. Originally a school serving kindergarten through high school students, it later became an Industrial High School under the New York State Board of Regents. In recent decades, it has served as the Dunkirk City School District’s offices and an Army/Navy surplus store until 2010 when it became vacant.

Arthur Page — in collaboration with local organizations such as the Chautauqua Land Bank, the IDA, and the City of Dunkirk — aims to breathe new life into School 10 by converting it into a modern community space featuring (16) one- and two-bedroom apartment homes. The project will preserve the building's original architecture and character while updating it for fair market housing.

With a focus on meeting the housing needs of working families, seniors, and the market, this redevelopment initiative seeks to honor the building's historical significance while providing much-needed housing options for the community.
